Couch rehabs knee to get ready for the 2007-08 season
September 4, 2007 -
Two months after Jason Couch had knee surgery
on his sliding knee, he is rehabbing well and is looking
forward to the new season, which will kick off for him in
Japan mid-month
On July 11,
Couch had an arthroscopic surgery on his knee, where the
surgeon also repaired a torn meniscus and shaved off some
damaged bone.
"Initially with
just the scope I was expecting to be back to bowling full
force within six weeks," said Couch. "But with the
tear and the bone damage, the healing has taken a little
longer than I hoped."
However, Couch
is currently able to bowl every day - currently one to two
games.
"I am obviously
not as sharp as I would like to be heading into the season
but my goals were more long-term. I decided to go
ahead with the surgery before any permanent damage happened
to my knee. I hope this will pro-long my career,"
added Couch.
Couch leaves for
Japan in two weeks and will continue to rehab his knee prior
to the trip. He is currently rehabbing at the
National Training Center,
located in his hometown of Clermont, Florida. The NTC
is a nationally and internationally known sports training
facility that includes an excellent rehabilitation
department with therapists specializing in working with
athletes.
"I always
mention how lucky I am to have the Kegel Training Center
under an hour away from my home," said Couch. "I'm
just as lucky to have a great facility such as the NTC in my
own backyard."
